First try at reviewing a movie .Don't kill me .
This review is about a Korean movie called " Jackals Are Coming" or " Codename : Jackal" as the alternative name . The movie is by genre a comedy, but along with laughter you have this totally weird plot with twists you seriously do not expect . I'm starting to really love South-Korean movies, because they have amazing plots along with epic fight scenes ( and realistic looking blooood). The downside of S.- Korean movies is that.. I can never see them in the cinema, since they aren't shown here T__T.
I've been waiting to watch this for a while now, actually G even saw the end before i did, since i never have enough uninterrupted time to just sit down and watch a whole movie and last night, when she watched it, i was so tired i fell asleep constantly. This time i actually remember waking up in the middle of the night like 7 times, lol . Anyways, back to the topic. The movie was released on the 15th of November of 2012, I saw it to the end on March 2nd 2013 ~ .( That's a while :o)

As the genre says, it is a comedy. Well.. a comedy with a lot of action. Action Comedy, the genre i adore the most, because it combines two things i love - laughter and pew pew. Along with a good plot, in my opinion, that kept you guessing aaand in the end just made you feel like " what the actual fruck just happened... " . The ending is very.. unexpected . For me at least, tried to forget G's spoilers ~_~
Trailer:
Plot:
Some guy hires a hit man to kill Choi Hyun, popular idol star ( played by Kim JaeJoong). The police are after the hit man, because he is tied to many murders, which were made to look like accidents or suicides. Some other lady connected to Choi Hyun hires Bung MinJung ( played by Song JiHyo) to also kill him. What an unpopular guy... They all - the hit man called Jackal, the police, Bung MinJung and Choi Hyun - meet at a motel turned hotel called Paradise Motel/Hotel . Choi Hyun gets taken captive and done weird things to by Bung MinJung and the police just hang around until the Jackal gets thurr and then all the action goes down.
My thoughts during the movie:
First meeting |
First of all, it kind of sucked that the movie was in parts. And I wish i could have seen it in a cinema, on a big ass screen. Well, enough complaining.
The movie starts with Jackal being hired. And I'm like " oh snap JaeJoong you in trouble" . Then it shows how Choi Hyun acts in a historical S.-Korean drama and his behavior screams typical arrogant rich guy. When he wants to drive off and the stalker chick basically jumps him in his car I, myself, got goosebumps. That was so creepy . He then takes his managers car and drives to Paradise Hotel, which was before a motel, and there he meets Bung MinJung, who is wearing a fair haired wig. She looks like some wanna-be cute Japanese girl.

The hotel.. boss? Er, well the super-duper-epic guy, who makes me grin throughout the movie, makes his appearance. He has this stupid grin on him that makes you wanna punch him . The two get different rooms, but soon after Choi is captured by Bung and done weird things to. Well, those were really weird. He is tied up, threatened with a knife, which is dropped veeeery near his crotch ( that was an accident on set also, but the director liked it so he put it in), being hit multiple times with a champagne bottle, which i personally thought was a bit too much, but usually s.-Korean movies are realistic and I think a real hit man would do worse... and the making-sure-of-his-identity tests .
Abs comparison |
Those were hilarious. His face was compared to a photo.. The face he made was something between a duck face and a fish face. He had to sing, he sang so wrong. He had to show abs.. he pushed his tummy out and looked pregnant. He had to dance.. while having his legs tied together .. well.. flopping like a fish doesn't count i think. At some point, before being hit with a champagne bottle, he manages to knock Bung out and tries to call his manager with his phone, but since his mouth is covered .. he gets nowhere. Funny thing that is said by the manager in my opinion: " I'll tell them that you took your meds and went to sleep." .. *cackle* meds.
Electrocution |
Then Bung has to leave and go to her room, because the police, who arrived at some point, are doing room checks. The method for that is .. two police officers dressed as maids- they went to maid school too , with all the clean the toilets and check for condoms stuff - go from room to room, clean them and also check the rooms for suspicious stuff. During that time the stalker chick comes again. She, holy shit, electrocutes Choi Hyun until his hair is smoking (O_O). It is then revealed that she is the same stalker, who once broke into Choi's room and took pictures of them together in bed. Relax, of them shleeping together.. or well, just her with a sleeping Choi Hyun. She just had her whole face reconstructed to be prettier and i don't know what else. This made me scoff, because S.Korean beauty ideals in my opinion are too narrow and just.. everyone has to look the same, both male and female.
Then at some point Choi Hyun's manager shows up, gets knocked unconscious, comes back to his senses, knocks Bung out cold, frees Choi and hides with Bung's unconscious body. The reason for that is that Angela, the woman of the man, who hires Jackal to kill Choi, is coming for a *eyebrow wiggle* visit . *ohhh, you so nasty* .They make out for a few seconds, then Bung comes out, is thought to be some chick of Choi's, gets bishslapped and then they struggle - ladyfiiight!- and she " accidentally" kills Angela.
Then Jackal starts his plan. He makes the fire sprinkles work and that makes people run out of the hotel in fear. He is confronted by the few police members actually there and.. well.. he swats them away like flies.. really, he does. Boom, enter Bung and Choi, who start running for their lives, somehow end up on the roof when Bung goes into ninja mode, kicks Choi off the roof and onto another roof, which knocks him out and engages " Jackal" in a fight. Before that though, she reveals that she is truly the Jackal and that she was hired by Angelas husband to kill Angela and that she told the husband to get the Faker Jackal to come there so she could kill him.. Choi was just bait, aww ~ .
At the end of it all Bung knocks herself out so she wouldn't be suspected , because she got injured during the fight ( it was quite epic ). The ending scenes are about Bung talking to the husband, who is the CEO of the company that Choi Hyun is signed under, and about her at the airport talking on the phone with Choi Hyun about money. Movie ends with Bung saying " I'll kill you" to Choi.
* I so totally copied G's review, cause i have no idea how to do it on my own. * cackle* Well, she did all the messy work :D
