''Antique / Antique Bakery '' movie review

First sorry for the late update I had a really bad headache.. I know I told E I was writing this and I really was but then out of nowhere I got the worst headache on this planet and I didn’t have any painkillers… I slept for a while and then started writing again.  * the beginning is written before my headache*

My turn to write again wope doodle doo ....  So  I tackled down an old movie a few weeks ago.  It isn’t really a Korean movie plot wise.  It is produced in South Korea  and the actors are Korean  but it is based on a Japanese manga.  Therefore the plot isn’t Korean like.  It is a love story none the less but not the one we would see every day.
I can’t approach this like I did last time.  I’m quite new to Korean movie scenery so for me it is quite a twisted movie.  The plot is not one would expect from a  movie with this kind of a name.  I never read about the movie beforehand for some reason, mainly cuz I want the movie to be a surprise and boy  was this a surprise.

So to be honest this is the moment when any manga/anime  fan is allowed to go ‘’ HOW IN THE WORLD DON’T YOU KNOW ANTIQUE BAKERY!!!!!!!’’   on my ass… But the last thing I read was noblesse and that isn’t really fluffy so this as in antique is not something I would usually read …..
But we are dealing with an eye opening movie from the year 2008.. It’s about love, hardship and how happenings in our past can forever change a person and their perspective of the world and  in this case, sweets as well.

Trailer.  NB !!!!!!  don’t watch this if you are hungry !!!!!! just saying

Little about the Plot.

A story of 4 attractive men  Jin-Hyuk the heir to the family fortune , Seon -Woo a talented patissier, Ki-Bum an ex- boxing champion  and Soo-Young .. Jin-Hyuk’s clueless ex-bodyguard. Men who have different past’s but all come together in Antique bakery….
We are dealing with a gay love story but please, don’t let this scare you away I’m begging you guys. Just watch it! Honestly it is worth it.

My own  thoughts from beginning to end.

Jin-Hyuk
The beginning of the movie is a seen from Jin-Hyuk’s high school days and then a boy confesses his feelings to him  on the school roof on the last day of their high school life.. at first Jin-Hyuk  seems fine with it but then he smashes a cake in to the guys face…  at that moment I really really wanted to punch him …. Buut moving on
So after a really confusing intro that is in French we join Jin-Hyuk almost eleven years later when he is sitting down with his parents. And drops a bomb on his parent with saying that he quit his job…  his grandmother immediately assumes that he is going to work for his fader but no he wants to open a cake shop.
We are dealing with a guy who hates cakes and has it all,  so why this sudden  change and desire to own a cake shop ???  The answer is quite  easy, women, most of the costumers would be women.   He goes  in search of a patissier and to have the pest shot he off course wants the best so he hires Seon-Woo  who just happens to be the boy who confessed his feelings for Jin-Hyuk  in high school.
Seon-Woo....
Our past is what shapes who we are right? Turns out the way Jin-Hyuk  treated took its tool  on Seon-Woo  and he became this player type of person who loooooves to seduce straight men  to spend at least a night with him … ouu well  I don’t really judge any of them because face it who wouldn’t fall for that guy .. Handsome, sexy,  body to kill for and he can cook the probably the prettiest and really delicious sweets. Hmmmmm….  I want cake now darn it … and he still very much wants to seduce Jin-hyuk. What ends up in very many giggle worthy moments.
Joining these two for the crazy ride ahead are Ki-Bum an ex-boxing champion who wants to work in the shop but once he learns who Seon-Woo is and how delicious cakes he makes,  Ki-Bum begs  to be his apprentice and Soo-Young  who finds Jin-Hyuk’s to become his bodyguard again but instead is but to be a waiter.
We already have an ass hole in the story but there is one more … he is this some what sweet kind of an ass..  Who’s name is Jean-Baptise Evan who wants his loooover back ….. and that lover is no other then Seon-Woo… But even thought I say sweet  he isn't the sweetest at some point...
Along the way we learn of painful love, friendship and dark pasts that they faced and are trying to overcome now...
It is a movie worth watching  .. I really love the plot of this movie and  I want you guys to watch it … even if you aren’t into this kind of yaoi scenery then remember South- Korea is one of the most homophobic countries and everything in this movie is Korean except that French dude!  And just to be clear this was  the first yaoi thing i have probably ever seen.
Conclusion to me was that this was not really a fluffy love story cuz everyone has a dark past that revolver around us and the character showed hoe they fought with their darkest demons. Being kidnaped as a kid, having un requested love in a country that doesn’t accept you for who you are, ending the most promising career because of eyesight problems  and  being a klutz to be good in anything and to shy to say what you feel.

Some pictures as well then:
